St. Luke’s School, a secular (non-religious), college-preparatory day school serving grades 5 through 12, seeks a Middle School History Teacher to teach 7th grade American History. The Middle School History Department strives to develop young historians who move beyond surface-level stories and learn to grapple with evidence, causation, and the complexity required by historical thinking. We aim to foster classrooms where students learn to think about ideas rigorously and express their curiosity openly, guided by the values of civil discourse, with the goal of understanding rather than winning. The ideal candidate is collaborative, energized by a middle schooler's energy, and committed to teaching civil discourse as both an intellectual discipline and a civic responsibility.
