Overview The HSE has created six new health regions. Each region is responsible for providing both hospital and community care for the people in that area. Bringing community health services and hospitals together means we can take a more patient-centred approach to healthcare. HSE Dublin North East provides health and social care to North Dublin, Louth, Meath, Monaghan and most areas of Cavan. HSE Dublin North East Region includes the following hospitals; The DNE RHA is largely made up from a merging of former Community Healthcare Organisations, the RCSI Hospital Group and some areas of Ireland East Hospital Group. The new RHA serves populations in five counties – North Dublin, Meath, Louth, Cavan and Monaghan. The area stretches from the north banks of the River Liffey in Dublin City Centre, north to the border with Northern Ireland, and west to the border with County Donegal. It comprises urban, rural and commuter belt areas, and covers approximately 6,817 square kilometres in total. There is considerable variation in population density from a low of 39 persons per square kilometre in Cavan to a high of 4,139 persons per square kilometre in north Dublin city.
