Network Fiber Splicer Department: Field Operations: Employment Type: Full Time: Location: Tampa: Reporting To: Network Maintenance Supervisor: Description: The Fiber Spicer is primarily responsible for cable/enclosure prepping, fusion splicing, verification testing, troubleshooting and fiber optic cable repair. The Fiber Splicer will be required to review, create, and maintain splicing schematics and diagrams (Matrix). The candidate will be responsible for maintaining accurate splicing and field notes along with supporting project timelines. They will also be performing end to end OTDR testing, analyzing test results for acceptable loss readings, and providing close out packages complete with pictures, formal loss results, and redlined schematic documentation. Key Responsibilities: - Terminate, fusion splice and install a variety of fiber optic connectors and enclosures including both loose tube fiber and ribbon fiber up to an 288ct fiber cable. - Maintains the security of the outside fiber plant (OSP) network, either aerial and/or underground throughout area of responsibility. - Must be able to perform mid-sheath/ring cut/midspan entry on a cable without service interruption.
