Job Description Operates Computed Tomography (CT) equipment, prepares patients for examination, and captures appropriate imaging and information for Physician review and diagnosis. Job Responsibility: 1.Prepares patient for examination. Explains procedure in layman terms to relieve any potential anxiety. Performs thorough screening of patients prior to procedure. Ensures required consent forms have been obtained. Positions patient on exam table within gantry. Utilizes special devices (i.e. bromide shield) to reduce exposure to ionizing radiation of radiosensitive areas (i.e. breast, thyroid, etc.). 2.Sets up equipment to administer proper procedure in a timely fashion. Calculates number of scans to be obtained, ensuring required images are obtained according to Radiologist order. Adjusts CT equipment to capture appropriate field of view. Ensures proper slice thickness and couch increment. In collaboration with Radiologist, extends parameters within established imaging protocols, if needed. 3.Administers intravenous (IV) and oral contrast agents according to Radiologist order.
