Description The Enrico Fermi Institute of the University of Chicago invites applications for a Research Assistant Professor position in Computational Particle Physics. The successful candidate will work under the supervision of Professor David Miller to lead and advance the U.S. ATLAS Computing Operations program at the University of Chicago, which supports a Tier 2 computing center and a dedicated Analysis Facility serving hundreds of physicists across the U.S. ATLAS collaboration at the CERN Large Hadron Collider. The scope of the position spans multiple interconnected areas: The successful candidate will maintain an active physics analysis program, contribute to the intellectual leadership of the group, and contribute to the training and mentorship of early-career researchers in modern analysis techniques and scientific computing. They will work closely with postdoctoral scholars, graduate students, and research staff at UChicago and partner institutions, and will be expected to pursue independent funding and to engage with national initiatives including IRIS-HEP, the U.S. ATLAS Operations program, and the APS DPF community.
