Description The Wilmot Cancer Institute at the University of Rochester Medical Center is seeking a full-time Genetic Counselor to join our team at the Pluta Cancer Center. The Hereditary Cancer Screening and Risk Reduction Program is a unique and innovative multidisciplinary team designed to provide cancer risk assessment, genetic testing, and long-term follow-up for patients and families with an increased risk of cancer. Duties include pre-visit history taking, pedigree creation and risk assessment, pre- and post-genetic testing counseling, selection and coordination of genetic testing, informed consent for testing, interpreting and conveying test results while managing psychosocial impact, interactions with family support groups, and literature review for both adult and pediatric patients. The candidate will have opportunities for research, teaching, and community outreach. Continuing education is also supported. Qualifications: Candidates should have a Master’s degree in Genetic Counseling from an ACGC Accredited Program and should be ABGC board-certified.
