About the Role The Service Locator is responsible for identifying, locating, and marking underground utilities and assets to ensure safe excavation and construction activities. This role plays a critical part in preventing damage to essential infrastructure such as water, gas, electricity, telecommunications, and sewer services. Using specialised locating equipment and interpreting utility plans and construction drawings, the Service Locator accurately determines the position of underground assets and marks them in accordance with industry standards and company policies and procedures. The role requires strong attention to detail, technical aptitude, and a commitment to workplace health and safety. Service Locators work closely with the Specialised Services Manager, Site Supervisors, Project Managers, and asset owners to communicate findings, minimise risk, and support efficient project delivery. The position is primarily field-based and involves working outdoors in various site conditions while maintaining high standards of accuracy, professionalism, and compliance.
