Job Summary: An intermediary level custody officer performing prisoner guard and processing duties at the Dallas County jail (Lew Sterrett Justice Center). Job Description: Overview: The DPD Detention Officer II performs guard duties by processing and monitoring the Dallas Police prisoners in custody at the Dallas County Jail and occasionally assisting Dallas Police Officers with prisoners' book-in. Essential Functions: 1. Escorts and guards adult prisoners from the book-in process to the medical screening site to the adult holding area. 2. Monitors and observes prisoners’ activities to ensure no disturbances occur; subdues and restrains aggressive or violent prisoners using approved methods to ensure the safety and security of staff and prisoners. 3.
