Job description

Overview Prioritizes and accurately performs a wide variety of clinical laboratory tests on various biological specimens based on established clinical procedures. Reviews, evaluates, documents and reports results. Preserves confidentiality of patients and follows lab safety and maintenance protocols. Responsibilities: Performs various testing in all departments (chemistry, coagulation, hematology, special chemistry, urinalysis, blood bank, serology, microbiology) following prescribed quality assurance policies and procedures. Performs, evaluates and documents quality control and maintenance checks for (Daily, Weekly and Monthly) in all departments to include temperature logs, discarding of old specimens and rotation of specimen racks for storage. Reviews testing results and evaluating the validity of results in comparison to anticipated results indicated per procedure manual. Thoroughly documents and communicates test results, expediting all critical values and results to appropriate doctors and clinicians. Documents adverse events using incident reporting tool.
