JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: Participate In Improving Organizational Performance - Recommend areas or approaches for improvement activities, perform new procedures, collect data and provide input to department discussions. Perform Additional Patient Care Procedures - Apply sealants or perform coronal polishing on appropriately assigned patients within the scope of the state certification limits. Fit, adjust impression trays, impress for study models, and take wax bite records. Remove, adjust and retie arch wires following the direction of the dentist. Try-in, fit and adjust bands. Assist dentist in cementation of bands and bonding procedures. Patient Records - Record pertinent patient information in electronic dental record. May also serve as a scribe for the dentists in situations where the dentist is otherwise occupied in the direct care of the patient. When functioning in this capacity, the assistant will not be engaged in direct patient care and will serve only as the recorder of the specific comments directed by the dentist for inclusion in the medical record, without interpretation or modification.
