Description JOB DESCRIPTION: OPTHALMIC TECHNICIAN- CORNEA AND CATARACT EXPERIENCE: JOB SUMMARY: Assist Physician with patient examination and treatment, responsible for patient histories, routine diagnostic procedures, as well as some clerical duties. RESPONSIBILITIES: - Facilitate patient care - Preliminary work-up: history, chief complaint, visual acuity, eye pressure, pupil reactions, scope of vision, color vision and muscle movement. - Manual refractions. - Tonometry (Applanation, Tonopen). - Diagnostic testing: Biometry, Topography, OCT, Visual Fields, Fundus Photos. - Take dictation and document exam findings while physician is examining patient. - Administer drops under physician supervision. - Write out necessary prescriptions. - Take and explain tests, procedures, treatments, and diagnoses to patients. - Maintain and stock all exam rooms. - Clean and maintain all instruments. - Assist physician in minor office surgery. - Return and answer patient phone calls as needed. Requirements: - Minimum of two (2) years’ experience in an ophthalmic practice.
