About the unit The ACE unit/1D (Acute Care o f the Elderly) is a 21 bed Med/Surg unit at Blodgett Hospital . Our focus is on medical patients who are over the age of 65 . Nurses are often drawn to 1D because of their passion for our geriatric population while becoming competent in a wide variety of diagnosis . Since we are a Med/Surg unit, we care for patients with a vast array of diagnosis including Congestive Heart Failure, COPD, Septic Shock, Acute Kidney Injuries, Delirium and many more. Teamwork is vital within our unit and the staff work to ensure sound communication with the whole care team.
