Job description

GENERAL DESCRIPTION: Under general supervision, perform a variety of skilled field inspections and office work involved in the enforcement of codes and regulations regarding building installations; to inspect new construction, remodeling, and repairs to determine compliance with the City's building code; to review plans and specifications to determine compliance with City codes; and to enforce City building codes. SUPERVISION EXERCISED: Exercises no supervision: IMPORTANT AND ESSENTIAL DUTIES: Inspect residential, commercial, and industrial building installations and equipment in structures undergoing construction, repair, or remodeling for compliance with the adopted City codes and safety standards. 2. Check plans and specifications for compliance with current adopted City codes. 3. Enforce adopted City Building Codes; identify areas of non-compliance; discuss problems with contractors/developers; identify ways of correcting deficiencies. 4. Issue stop orders. 5. Inspect work sites to ensure that contractors and workers have appropriate licenses and that proper materials and practices are utilized. 6.
