Newport News, Virginia Overview: Works under the supervision of the physician, Office Manager, RN, and LPN. The certified medical assistant performs a wide range of clinical duties including assisting the physician in providing quality care in a medical office setting. The certified medical assistant must be able to demonstrate the knowledge required to provide age appropriate care for the patients served in the practice, and skills to interpret assessment in relation to principles of growth and development over the life span. In addition, the certified medical assistant must be knowledgeable of health insurance guidelines for preauthorization's and referral processes, and be attentive to scheduling testing and specialist visits within network guidelines. What you will do: - Exhibits knowledge of lab procedures to include compliant use of ABNs and phlebotomy skills (if applicable). Sends specimens to correct lab. Accurately performs lab linkage, obtains pre authorizations, scheduling tests and specialist visits within network limitations. - Follows insurance carrier guidelines and Medicare regulations.
