Job description

Under general supervision, responsible for assisting with the administration of targeted doses of radiation as prescribed by a radiologist in the treatment cancer and other diseases. Education: Associate's Degree and a graduate of AMA accredited program in Radiation Therapy Technology Required. - Assists in preparing sealed radioactive materials, calculates actual treatment dosages, and prepares equipment such as immobilization, treatment and protection. - Develops and administers patient treatment plans using radiation therapy techniques and radiopharmaceuticals; checks prescription, chart, calculations and patient identity. - Ensures proper application and safety techniques are used. - Checks machine alignment, lasers, interlocks, and beam/light field alignment and maintains daily records on machine; reports problems. - Performs all other duties as assigned. - Detail oriented. - Must follow exact instructions and input exact measurements to make sure the patient is exposed to the correct amount of radiation. - Interpersonal skills. - Works closely with patients. - It is important that therapists be comfortable interacting with people who may be going through physical and emotiona...
