JOB SUMMARY: Monitor Technicians assists the nursing staff in monitoring the heart rhythms of patients on telemetry. The ability to interpret dysrhythmias and respond quickly and appropriately in the notification of nursing staff is essential. These position duties include transcription, interpretation, and clerical duties. Job Requirements: Minimum Education: High school diploma or equivalent. Required Skills: Satisfactorily completed Basic Life Support (BLS) program. Successfully complete Electrocardiogram (EKG) interpretation course and able to score 100% on rhythm strip exam required within 6 weeks in position. Minimum Work Experience: Demonstrates ability to perform duties in a calm, mature manner. FUNCTIONAL DEMANDS: Physical Requirements: Sitting - = or greater than 32% Walking - 1-15%: Standing - 1-15%: Bending/Squatting - 1-15%: Climbing/Kneeling - 1-15%: Twisting - 16-31%: Visual and Hearing Requirements: Must be able to see with corrective eyewear if needed.
