ABOUT THE ROLE: The Department of Public Works is a 250-person department committed to providing dependable, high-quality services; developing a safe, healthy, livable environment; supporting and developing the work force; engaging the community and providing excellent customer service; and planning for a sustainable future. The Senior Engineer is a key member of the engineering team at the Department of Public Works and reports to the Assistant Commissioner for Engineering/ City Engineer through an Engineering Division Supervising Engineer. The Senior Engineer will work towards the goal of providing efficient operations and excellent customer service. The person in this role will be an important contributor to the Department’s Capital Improvement programs in the areas of sewer separation, stormwater management, street reconstruction and other public infrastructure improvements, and will provide effective community relations, sound decision-making, financial responsibility and problem-solving.
