CORE JOB SUMMARY: The Resident PGY4 engages in a residency education position with the purpose of obtaining an academic affiliated post-graduate educational experience in a controlled academic environment. The incumbent refines and improves skills in all six of the general competencies by providing direct patient care services. Additionally, the Resident PGY4 serves as a liaison between the medical community and the assigned medical facilities. CORE JOB FUNCTIONS: Defines initial plans of care and determines level of care needed for patients. Assures appropriate evaluation and certification of terminal prognosis. Conducts palliative care consultations and follow up evaluations. Provides medical expertise on pain and symptom management to admission and patient care staff. Consults with attending physicians regarding pain and symptom management and issues involving patient prognosis. Educates community physicians, med...
