Description The Department of Biology in the College of Arts & Sciences at American University invites applications for a full-time, tenure-line position at the rank of Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor beginning August 1, 2023. Rank will be dependent on experience and stature in the field. Depending on qualifications, the appointee to this position may be recommended for tenure at the time of hiring. The ideal candidate for this position is a collaborative Ph.D. scientist with an established research program in viral pathogenesis, virus-host interactions, immune responses to infection, plant pathology, or related areas of virology. This individual will be capable of complementing the biology department’s strengths in microbiology, molecular biology, cell biology, neuroscience, evolution, physiology, genetics and genomics. Scientists who use biochemical approaches, mathematical modeling, or study environmental causes of viral outbreaks, and who are capable of establishing synergies with other science departments in the College of Arts & Sciences are especially encouraged to apply.
