Department Overview The Vascular Access Team is an all-nurse specialty service that promotes patient safety through vessel health and preservation through the recommendation and placement of the appropriate vascular access device intended for the patient's hospital stay. The Vascular Access Nurse works in collaboration with the healthcare team, patient, and family to promote patient health throughout the delivery of professional nursing care appropriate to the patient's age and condition, as documented in the nursing and medical plans of care adhering to evidence-based practice, infusion therapy practice standards, hospital goals, values, and regulatory standards.
