The Payroll Officer will be tasked with the following duties, responsibilities, and assignments. Leveraging Workday’s technology, process and reconcile monthly payroll for 700+ Hinds County Board of Supervisors employees. Ensure all payroll transactions are processed accurately and timely. Maintain detailed and organized payroll records and processing steps. Prepare and settle payroll and tax related documents with Workday Compliance. Process wage garnishments and child support orders. Work with Accounting and Budget/Finance income tax/unemployment accounts. Assist with audits, resolve tax issues, and ad-hoc requests, and map earning and deduction codes to General Ledger. Respond to and resolve employee questions regarding payroll in a timely and thoughtful manner. Work with HR to validate data entry and process personnel changes within Workday. Audit employee changes to ensure employee records remain up to date. Respond to outside employment verifications. Reconcile, submit, and audit HR invoices.
