PRN: As needed to fill Childbirth Education Classes Classes are offered on weekends and evening. General Summary: Develops, coordinates and presents childbirth education programs for the community. Duties and Responsibilities: Essential Functions: - Provides accurate information about the physiology, psychology, and sociology of pregnancy, childbirth, postpartum, and early parenthood. - Provides skills to assist women and their support persons to cope with pregnancy, childbirth, postpartum, and early parenthood. - Acts as a facilitator who helps couples better understand and value their experience as they transition into parenthood. - Provides an avenue for communication between the pregnant women and other members of the health care team. - Serves as an advocate for pregnant women, their partners and infants. - Communicates accurate information about pregnancy, childbirth, childcare, and early parenthood in a clear, concise, understandable manner - Serves as a resource to the community by developing and planning programs in response to identified needs.
