Description The Johns Hopkins University’s Department of Materials Science and Engineering invites applications for tenured or tenure-track faculty positions at all ranks (Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Full Professor) in the area of data science and artificial intelligence for materials design and innovation. We seek candidates whose research focuses on the development of machine learning, artificial intelligence, and data science methods to synthesize, process, characterize, and design new materials, including biomaterials. Of particular interest are research directions, both foundational and applied, in AI-driven autonomous synthesis, processing, and characterization, leveraging our state-of-the-art facilities. Candidates will be part of the new Data Science and AI Institute and will be encouraged to collaborate with other existing university-wide initiatives. We expect the candidate to leverage the Materials Characterization and Processing facility and the Artificial Intelligence for Materials Design Laboratory.
