POSITION SUMMARY: The Lead Laboratory Assistant performs support duties for efficient laboratory operations and provides leadership for co-workers, ensuring compliance with established procedures and ensuring quality standards are met. This position performs collection, handling and preparation of specimens for internal and external laboratory testing, in accordance with standard operating procedures, and in a manner that supports quality patient care. Additionally, this position is responsible for the scheduling of staff, assisting in maintaining par level staffing, assists in customer service recovery, assists in dissemination of information to staff, maintenance of inventory and ordering processes, orientation/training of staff, assisting with in staff assessment and evaluation, facilitates and assists staff in meeting organizational and departmental requirements as established, implemented, or amended; and acts as a resource person to other team members.
