Job description

Experience and abilities you will need: - One to two years knowledge of plant, one year in department. - Thorough knowledge of silo configuration and cement storage. - Ability to understand and follow directions. - Basic knowledge of railroad safety procedures and signals. - Knowledge of railroad track layout and switching procedures. - Basic mathematical skills. - Basic mechanical ability to perform service and maintenance on locomotives. - Ability to work under minimum supervision. - Safety oriented. Physical Requirements: Individual needs strong upper body strength for hanging/pulling self up on side of rail cars; position requires excessive ability to move about, ascend/descend ladder to locomotive, position self to clean and maintain switches, track and rail cars and perform service and maintenance on switch engine; moves equipment, material weighing up to 50 pounds in maintenance and clean-up duties; operates levers requiring high degree of manual dexterity and eye/hand coordination in switching and spotting rail cars for loading, weighing, shipping and storage; frequently works in outdoor weather conditions.
