Position Details Primary Department or Practice: UHS Cardiothoracic UHS is seeking an experienced physician assistant (PA) to join our growing cardiothoracic surgery service line. Shift: 7:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. with a post call day off during the week. 1 in 3 call shared with other APPs. After OR cases (dependent on patient volume) would provide CVICU coverage with 2 other dedicated CVICU APPs. Position Responsibilities: - Coordinate patient care. Counsel patients about concerns under the direction of the supervising physician(s). - Round on patients admitted to the hospital; review care plans with nursing staff as established by our physicians. - Assist in the operating room. Vein Harvest experience required. - Perform physical assessments on patients and complete patient histories. - Complete discharge summaries. - Order medications, treatments, labs, etc. - Be available for call about patient conditions according to the pre-established schedule. Includes holiday responsibilities. - Other duties as determined by the supervising physician(s).
